Jennifer and James - September 20, 2008

It was a perfect day for Jennifer and James who were married at Historic Church of St. Patrick in downtown Toledo.

Following the service, family and friends danced the night away downtown at the Crowne Plaza to the beat of music supplied by Decorative Sounds.

Here are a few photos from the event.

Stefanie and Tim - August 15, 2008

What happens if you can’t make it is a question that I am often asked. I always explain that I belong to a network of photographers that fill in for each other in case of an emergency. On Friday, I was celebrating my daughter’s 13th birthday with lunch at one of her favorite restaurants when I received a call.

“Are you available to shoot a wedding today?” The photographer was ill, and needed a replacement. Sure. My gear is always packed and ready to go, and there were three hours before the wedding started. Plenty of time to go home, change clothes and collect my gear.

While we intended to open presents at home after lunch, my daughter understand that it would have to wait. I am so proud of her - for a lot of things - but today especially, understanding the importance of photography to a bride on her wedding day.

This is the second time that I have been called on by different photographers, and I am glad to help. Because while it hasn’t happened to me, I trust should I have an emergency that any one of a number of talent photographers will be there for me.

Now to stars of the day - Stefanie and Tim. They were married at First Congregational Church and hosted their friends and family for a reception at Glass City Boardwalk. Here are a few pictures from their day.

Future Wedding Photographer

At Friday’s wedding, he was focused on capturing some of the key reception events so he may be a future wedding photographer. Looks like his older brother is curious as well.

Arts Gone Wild - Toledo Zoo

Thousands flocked to the Toledo Zoo to celebrate Toledo’s artistic instincts during the four-day Arts Gone Wild event.

The event offered diverse species of cultural offerings from around the region, including local artists along with interactive and participatory activities.

Sunday I attended with Nate while Allison went to her Zoo Teen meeting. I also renewed my zoo membership. If you don’t have one - what are you waiting for?

Here is a short video featuring a community arts project - building a frog from recyclables - as well as some of the performances by the students from the Toledo School for the Arts.

The music is from the performances of Glass City Steel, a product of the Toledo School for the Arts.
