Election Night

Tuesday night I supplied video and photos to the Toledo Free Press as part of its election day/night coverage.

I started the day early at one union hall, and near the end I visited another union hall. Here, local democrats celebrate the Obama victory and are congratulated on their efforts by Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur.

Jennifer and James - September 20, 2008

It was a perfect day for Jennifer and James who were married at Historic Church of St. Patrick in downtown Toledo.

Following the service, family and friends danced the night away downtown at the Crowne Plaza to the beat of music supplied by Decorative Sounds.

Here are a few photos from the event.

Joan and Bryan - A few more favorites

Joan and Bryan were married on what may be the most popular wedding day this year - 08/08/08. After the ceremony, the couple, their family and friends headed to downtown Findlay for the reception. But for those walking in the door, it looked more like a swanky Manhattan night club, complete with a live band. After touching toasts by the couple’s siblings, the party kicked off with the couple’s first dance and continued into the early hours of the morning. Here are a few photos from the celebration, followed by a longer slide show. Click play on the left side of the slide show control bar to start the show.

Stefanie and Tim - August 15, 2008

What happens if you can’t make it is a question that I am often asked. I always explain that I belong to a network of photographers that fill in for each other in case of an emergency. On Friday, I was celebrating my daughter’s 13th birthday with lunch at one of her favorite restaurants when I received a call.

“Are you available to shoot a wedding today?” The photographer was ill, and needed a replacement. Sure. My gear is always packed and ready to go, and there were three hours before the wedding started. Plenty of time to go home, change clothes and collect my gear.

While we intended to open presents at home after lunch, my daughter understand that it would have to wait. I am so proud of her - for a lot of things - but today especially, understanding the importance of photography to a bride on her wedding day.

This is the second time that I have been called on by different photographers, and I am glad to help. Because while it hasn’t happened to me, I trust should I have an emergency that any one of a number of talent photographers will be there for me.

Now to stars of the day - Stefanie and Tim. They were married at First Congregational Church and hosted their friends and family for a reception at Glass City Boardwalk. Here are a few pictures from their day.

Future Wedding Photographer

At Friday’s wedding, he was focused on capturing some of the key reception events so he may be a future wedding photographer. Looks like his older brother is curious as well.
