Presidential hopeful Barack Obama campaigned in Toledo, Ohio on Sunday. More than 10,000 people turned out for a rally at the University of Toledo.
Like last Sunday, when I covered the campaign stop of former President Bill Clinton, I put on my photojournalist hat and braved the crowd and the three hour wait to capture some images for a local newspaper.

Former President Bill Clinton visited Toledo to campaign for his wife Senator Hillary Clinton during a stop at the Toledo Technology Academy. In a 45-minute presentation the former president entertained the partisan crowd. As a former journalist I couldn’t resist the urge to attend the rally knowing that they are like a photo opp in a box, designed to produce images, sound and video for the media. With a flag hanging on one side of the stage, this rally did not disappoint. Here are a few photos from the event.
The Toledo women’s basketball teamed up with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a “Think Pink” night Saturday to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
Fans were encouraged to wear pink and Susan G. Komen for the Cure donated t-shirts and an assortment of pink giveaways for the event. UT players wore pink socks and pink ribbons on their uniform. Unfortunately, The Lady Rockets lost to Miami 60-76, but the game was closer than the score indicated.

I volunteer on a regular basis for the local Komen affiliate, so tonight I attended the game to document “Think Pink” for the affiliate newsletter.

The Toledo Botanical Gardens is an excellent venue for both engagement sessions and weddings.

I want to say thanks to all the couples who made 2007 such a great year. I was able to shoot weddings around Toledo, around the country and around the world. Last year I shot weddings in four different states and two different countries. Each wedding was unique and enjoyable. One included an appearance by Elvis and a surprise marriage proposal by the best man (not to Elvis, but to a bridesmaid - she said yes), zoo animals and fire dancers.
