Party in the Parking Lot

Friday night I had a chance to stop by the Toledo Club for the Party in the Parking lot, a fundraiser for Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Beatles tribute band - The Return - entertained the packed parking lot.

Here are a few pictures from my brief visit.

Couldn’t stay too late. I have a wedding to shoot on Saturday.

Try it on for the Cure

Sunday I covered a fund raising event for Susan G. Komen for the Cure at Coldwater Creek. During “Try it on for the Cure,” Coldwater Creek donated $1 for every customer who tried on an outfit. And because once they tried on those fabulous clothes, customers wanted to buy, Coldwater Creek also donated 10 percent of store sales to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Here are a few images from the event.

Promise Quilters auction to benefit breast cancer

The Promise Quilters are now selling tickets for the raffle to win a fabulous quilt. Springtime Promise was unveiled today at the annual quilt reception. To purchase tickets, send an e-mail to promisequilts@komennwohio.org.

However, if you want to bid on a custom-made tabletop quilt you can visit e-bay where the quilters are auctioning off a table-top quilt every 10 days for the next six months.

These limited edition quilts make great gifts and support a great cause.

You can bid on the first tabletop quilt here. [Editor’s note: The first quilt has sold; check back May 1 for more opportunities to bid on these fantastic tabletop quilts.]

For future weeks, simply type Komen Quilts or Promise Quilt in the e-bay search box.

Here is a preview of a few more that will be available in the weeks to come.

Haircut for the Cure

Chad Pickens and friend Kelsey Alexander donated their hair to Locks of Love in memory of Chad’s sister Angela Carlen, who passed away from breast cancer at age 33. The Rossford High School students sold tickets to a raffle to determine who would cut their hair. A fellow student cut Kelsey’s hair, while Chad’s mom won the honor to cut his hair. Proceeds from the ticket sales went to the local Northwest Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
